It all started back in the hills .....
Mama grew up on a small farm on the side of a steep hill; way, way back in the Appalachian mountains. She was the youngest of nine kids. They didn't have much, but, as Mama was quick to say, they always had good food! She learned to cook using plain ingredients, things that were common to farm life.
Dessert was always part of dinner and if anyone objected, Mama was also quick to remind folks that life was short .... "too short not to eat pie!"
